Rajahmundry is poised for significant growth and development, with several initiatives underway to enhance the city's infrastructure, tourism, and economy.
The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is launching a new spiritual tourism circuit in the erstwhile East Godavari district, which includes Rajahmundry. The tour will include visits to six holy sites: Korukonda, Annavaram, Pithapuram, Samarlakota, Daksharamam and Vadapalli. The tour will be available every Saturday, with plans to extend it to Sundays depending on the response.
The government is considering a proposal to elevate Rajahmundry from a 'Z' category city to a 'Y' category city. This upgrade would enable central government employees to receive a 20% House Rent Allowance (HRA) instead of the current 10%. Additionally, infrastructure improvements, including drainage and parks, would be implemented.
Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh launched a floating restaurant at Bridge Lanka of Godavari River in Rajahmundry. He announced plans to elevate Andhra Pradesh as a leading destination in the tourism sector. He explained the government’s vision for comprehensive development in these areas, particularly in Rajahmundry, the state’s cultural capital.
The government is preparing a comprehensive plan called ‘Vision 2027’ for the upcoming Godavari Pushkaralu. Plans are underway to develop more bathing ghats to accommodate the influx of devotees. Efforts will also be made to develop Rajahmundry city on a permanent basis in light of the upcoming Pushkaralu.
In addition to these government-led initiatives, private businesses are also investing in Rajahmundry. Kirtilals, a distinguished name in fine diamond jewellery, has inaugurated its 14th retail showroom in Rajahmundry. The expansive and elegantly designed showroom showcases a wide array of exquisite diamond and gold jewellery.
These developments suggest that Rajahmundry is on the cusp of a period of significant growth and transformation. The city is attracting investment from both the public and private sectors, and there is a clear commitment to developing its infrastructure, tourism, and economy.
